The campground currently offers two tent camping loops including a walk-in area that accommodate 82 tent campsites plus 17 RV campsites. In the late 1800s, settlers found the hot springs and called them "Sol Duc" a mispronunciation of the Quileute word for sparkling waters. Located along the Sol Duc River, Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort Campground is on the "edge of the backcountry in the heart of the Olympic National Park" with hot spring pools and access to many hiking trails. Fishing regulations, see below, are strictly 'catch and release' in hopes of bringing back the native Beardsley and Crescenti trout populations. Lake Crescent is known for its one-of-kind Beardsley Trout, identified by its unusual head that takes up 1/3 of its body. Streamer patterns like Deceivers, scuplins, and black leeches work well. The fish are very opportunistic and will cruise in search of anything edible. There is some dry fly action here at times, mainly just fishing a larger pattern blindly in the chop. Lake Crescent is a large, deep lake that is crystal clear with incredible visibility. Fish over twenty inches are not uncommon and there is a healthy population of mid-size fish as well.
